SPRINGFIELD - Theresa R. Furman Grieme, 83, of Springfield, IL died at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at her home.
She was born March 9, 1927, in Springfield, the daughter of Edward L. and Anna Groesch Kunzweiler. She married George Gene Furman and he preceded her in death in 1967. She married Ernest H. Grieme on May 19, 1978. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Edward and Paul Kunzweiler; 1 infant sister; and 3 sisters, Loretta Stelte, Mary Agnes Kramp and Bernice Giganti.
Theresa is survived by her husband, Ernest of Springfield; 1 daughter, Dora (husband, Michael) Stannard of Springfield; 1 stepdaughter; Debra Hoffner of South Lyon, MI; 2 sons, George Gene (wife, Susan) Furman of Lebanon, IN, and Ronald (wife, Sherry) Furman of Cantrall; 10 grandchildren, Libby and Thomas Furman, Cory, Keaton and Abigail Furman, and Cavan and Brendan Stannard, Tiffany Huff and Heather and Michael Hoffner; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Richard (wife, Betty) Kunzweiler of Palatine, IL; 1 aunt, Frances Kunzweiler of FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Telephone Pioneers of America and Women's Club of Springfield. Theresa retired from Illinois Bell after 32 years of service.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament School.
