SPRINGFIELD - James W. Hofman Sr. of Springfield died at 2:38 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at his home.
He was born July 19, 1948, in Springfield, Illinois, to James and June Wise Hofman.
James was a lifelong resident of Springfield, was a U.S. Army veteran and was of the Christian faith. He loved fishing and playing pool and was a member of DAV Hall Hagler Chapter 15 and American Legion Post 32.
He is survived by 2 sons, James (Daphne) Hofman Jr. and Jon Hofman; 2 grandchildren, Savannah and Malakhi; 4 sisters; and 4 brothers.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010, with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard and the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
