Steve was born in Mason City, IL. He graduated from Illini Central High School and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He is a member of First United Methodist Church.

Other memberships include the Masonic Lodge and Sigma Phi Sigma Fraternity. Steve joined the Staab Family team in 2001.
